Cat’s out of the bag: TSA finds live cat in luggage at JFK airport

Live feline trapped inside checked luggage at JFK.

A TSA agent in New York City spotted a live cat trapped inside a checked bag at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The orange tabby was noticed when the bag was x-rayed ahead of its Delta flight to Atlanta, officials said.

TSA agents contacted the airline, who then paged the passenger.

“The cat did not belong to the individual with the suitcase, it belonged someone else in the household,” TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein told NBC News.

“On the bright side, the cat’s out of the bag and safely back home.”

The X-ray machine ultimately saved the cat, as the feline likely wouldn’t have survived the flight inside the suitcase.

The cat was safely returned home, but as a result of the incident, the passenger missed his flight. He was able to rebook for the following day.
